Balayage, foils and babylights: how to choose
26 July 2026
Technique is not chosen by trend. It is chosen by base, cut, contrast and the upkeep you will actually keep up.
Inspiration photos mix names: balayage, foils, babylights. In consultation we translate that photo into a technique your hair can actually take.
Classic foils
Useful when you want more marked light or to lift a base quite a lot. The root usually asks for upkeep sooner than a more blended technique.
Balayage
Strategic painting. Light is placed where it favours the cut and movement, leaving depth so the colour does not look flat.
Babylights
Very fine strands. We recommend them when you want light without a visible “foil” look, or a soft blonde around the face.
How we decide
First chemical history and elasticity. Then how much contrast your base can take. Technique comes last, not first.
